About Still Mind Yoga

In a world filled with violence and discord, how can a person find peace? A personal contemplative practice is essential to remaining centered amidst the storms of life. Still Mind Martial Arts & Yoga is a place where you can find the tools you need for inner peace and health through the disciplines of yoga, Aikido, tai chi, and meditation. The best way to make the world more peaceful is for people to become more peaceful themselves and share it with others. This requires a regular mind/body practice done in community with the support and encouragement of others.

How We Began

Still Mind Yoga can trace its roots back to Steve Kanney’s Aikido school in Scarsdale, NY in 2003. Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is translated as “the way of harmony with ki (life force)” and is known as the “art of peace.” Steve Kanney has been training in this practice since 1978, having achieved a 5th degree black belt. Steve has also trained in tai chi since 1999. Kim Gold practices and teaches both Aikido and yoga. She began training in Aikido as an extension of her meditation practice in 2006. Kim, a longtime practitioner of yoga, became certified to teach through Atmananda Yoga in New York City, and more recently Mark Whitwell's Heart of Yoga training. She is also certified to teach children’s yoga and special needs yoga.

Still Mind Yoga has a staff of dedicated, sincere, and expert yoga instructors committed to bringing a little more peace to this part of Westchester County. Still Mind Yoga is operated under Integrated Peace Arts, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit company.
